ESPN.com announced the annual Holiday Gift Guide and named Skyline Socks as the #1 item for kids this year!
]]>NEW YORK, New York (February 7, 2013) – Beat the Streets Executive Director, Jim Fallis, is pleased to announce the donation of hundreds of New York Skyline Socks for the benefit of our New York City student-athletes. “We want to thank Skyline Socks for their generous donation, which has really struck a chord with our Beat the Streets wrestlers.” Skyline Socks is a Seattle, Washington based start-up.
Skyline Socks in action at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The socks, serendipitously made in the Beat The Streets NYC colors of Orange and Black, are made with the greatest city on Earth’s most recognizable landmarks: the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, among other city skyscrapers.
Co-founder Ben Johnson said the socks were donated as a way to “put on for your city” and help those most in need within the communities the socks represent.
The donated socks made their debut during the Grapple at the Garden event at Madison Square Garden. The competing Beat The Streets wrestlers wore them at the first wrestling event ever held at the World’s Most Famous Arena. Since then, a buzz has persisted within the NYC wrestling community about how to get one’s hands on a pair – and feet into them.
Beat the Streets Executive Director Jim Fallis said, “I know there have been a lot of requests made for them, after our kids were seen wearing them at the various tournaments. They look great and they’ve become a crowd favorite.”
More socks will continue to be seen at the city and state championships as BTS wrestlers finish the season. This coming weekend, 30 student-athletes qualify for the New York State Tournament held at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY on February 22-23.
The socks and the eight City’s that are represented can be viewed and purchased at www.SkylineSocks.com

Based out of Seattle, Skyline Socks brings a new perspective on the most overlooked yet vital piece of clothing we take for granted everyday: socks. With colorful city-scapes -- like their founding city's Seattle Space Needle, San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, and New York's Statue of Liberty & Empire State Building -- these hometown tube socks let you rep your city, but also give back to your community; with every pair of Skyline Socks purchased, a pair is donated to a non-profit program in your city (United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Children’s Hospital, etc.), so another kid can keep their feet feeling and looking good.

Skyline Socks will be providing warm socks to those who need it most right now. New York socks that are purchased will be matched and sent to Socks For Sandy from November 3rd through November 25th.
The need is still great. Many homes are gone, flooded, wiped out, total losses. Here are some eye opening statistics:
Mystic Island & Tuckerton Beach were two coastal communities that were completely wiped out.
Here is a list of some of the items that YOU can donate and help those in need:
If you are at all able, send any of the above items to:

"I couldn't get the socks thing out of my head. People needed socks. People were walking around barefoot. But it was more than that, this sort-of obsession about socks. Putting socks on cold feet signifies warmth and comfort - a small bit of goodness during what will be a long and difficult road. It bothered me all night.
Yes, we live at the shore. Going barefoot goes hand-in-hand with living at the beach. But after this storm? It is much chillier around here. And the forecast is for another possible storm to arrive in about four days. People need socks for warmth. Now."
Another way to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy:
You can also donate directly to the Red Cross and get your money into the hands of those who need it the most:

At the event, Skyline Socks was able to donate more than 1,100 pairs of socks to homeless men, women, and children.

We were thrilled to join the Seattle Parks and Recreation, Brandon Roy Foundation and the Rainier Community Center Advisory Council at the celebration and opening of the new Rainier Playfield play area. The Rainier community gathered together to celebrate the gorgeous new field, baskeball court & play area. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, we were able to give back to all the kids who patiently waited from the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club and the Rainier Eagles Football League.
The kids were extremely appreciative of the new socks, and the opening of the new fields couldn’t have come at a better time. Tough economic times have threatened the future of some Seattle-area youth football programs. Budget cuts have forced the city to increase field usage fees, resulting in some leagues having increased their registration fee, which meant fewer kids would have had the chance to play.
The newly renovated play area features new equipment, site improvements including picnic tables and barbecue grills, and improved site circulation and access.
The Brandon Roy Foundation generously donated to the renovated basketball courts with new lighting, composite surfacing, bleacher seating, padded backboard support posts, and new backboards. These improvements provide a safe and well-lit place for youth to learn and showcase their athletic skills, even on rainy days.
The event featured treats, hoops, play, socks and music provided by the talented Pasquale Santos. For more information about the park, check it out on the web at http://seattle.gov/parks/projects/rainier_pf/
